I have worked as a counsellor and psychotherapist in various settings, including a GP Surgery in Barnet (NHS), Psychosis Intervention Service in Haringay (NHS), MIND Westminster, and the Wimbledon Guild. I have also worked as a group facilitator in the NHS as well as in Arbours Therapeutic Communities. I have also been part of the British Red Cross's Home from Hospital Service, as well as Refugee Services.

Contemporary Psychoanalysis, Psychotherapy and Counselling

I'm a qualified Psychodynamic Counsellor and Psychotherapist (Birkbeck, Certificate of Higher Education & Graduate Diploma), and am currently in further training at the Society for Social and Critical Psychoanalysis.

I am a member of UKCP, and abide by their Ethical Framework for Good Practice. I have a full cover professional indemnity insurance.

In addition to my psychoanalytic work I am also a historian and a curator.

Psychoanalysis - I believe that the past has an impact on how we experience the present and form our future, and that we may not always be aware of all the things our minds hold.

Contemporary - I believe that philosophy has much to contribute to psychoanalysis. I am particularly interested in Gilles Deleuze's critique of psychoanalysis and the ideas he formulated around 'schizoanalysis'. I also feel that the 'anti-psychiatry' movement of the 1960's was an important turning point in psychoanalytic practice.

Relational - I believe that attachment and relationship patterns are an integral part of how we experience the world, and feel a 'Relational' approach is important in order to create an authentic relationship between the client and the therapist. This is still a work relationship, that does not replace friendship, family or romantic relationships. Therapy is a place where love, hate, frustration, not knowing, moments of madness and moments of enlightenment can be experienced and explored in an empathic and contained way.
